Willie J. Christian the son of the late Willie Sam & Ethel B Christian was born on June 17, 1957 in Fort Gaines, Ga. “Duker” or “Big Will” as he was affectionately known was an extraordinary person whom everyone loved and admired.
At an early age he confessed in Christ. He was an active full time member of New Macdeonia Baptist Church of Riverdale, Ga. under the leadership of Pastor Gerry T. Anderson.
He graduated from Clay County High School in 1979. Shortly after he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where he began his 35+ years career with Turning Broadcasting System as a custodian, because of his work ethics he was promoted to the Records Management Department as a Record Specialist until 2016. He then expanded his loyal ethics to Georgia’s Own Credit Union hiring in as a teller in September 2016 where he advanced as a Senior Teller October 2021 until his death. He was an aerobics instructor for over 30 years at the Airport Athletic Club and Run & Shoot. He was a committed season ticket holder for the Atlanta Hawks, Braves, and Falcons. He was a huge fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.
He was a humble loving man of God full of life and lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed sports, traveling, cooking, dancing, shopping, working out, fellowship, mentoring, and most of having fun. He was a great father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, neighbor, employee, instructor, trainer, classmate, and co- worker. He had an efficacious smile that would brighten a room or situation along with his nurturing and carefree spirit. He never met a stranger.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Willie Roy Christian and sister- in -law Brenda L. Christian.
Willie departed his life on Sunday, January 16,2022 at his home in Riverdale, Georgia.
Those left to cherish his memories are his son; Courtney Christian, grandson; Jalen Christian, a special long-term friend/bestie, Janice Green of Atlanta, Georgia; 4 Sisters; Gloria Peterson, Ella (Lancie) Cannon, Lynette(Jimmy)Carter of Fort Gaines, Ga and Michele (Henry)Veil of Newark, New Jersey: 4-brothers; Eddie R. (Shirley) Christian, Chester Christian of Fort Gaines, Ga; Jaycee(Audrey)Christian of Marlin, Texas, Wille M.(Equilla) Christian of Atlanta, Ga. and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors, co- workers, and friends.
