Walter James Grier was born on December 4, 1964 to Ozie Cox Grier and Willie Fred Granger in Clay County, Georgia.
Walter confessed his faith and became a member of Morris First Baptist Church in Morris, Ga.
Walter graduated from Stewart-Quitman High School in 1983. He worked with Evergreen Logging Company for 30 years until his health failed.
Walter loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Walter transitioned peacefully on June 28, 2022 at his home.
He was preceded in death by his father Willie Fred Granger, a sister, Mildred Granger, and grandparents George and Bessie Cox and Berry and Jessie Ross.
He leaves to cherish his memories three children, Antonio Brown of Steubenville, OH, Walter Brown of Atlanta, GA, and Amiya Bennett of Albany, GA; a loving mother, Ozie Cox Grier of Morris, GA; five sisters, Mary Sue Scott of Eufaula, AL, Lena Grier of Chicago, IL, Mary Thompson of Georgetown, GA, Corene Henley of Columbus, GA and Joann (Dennis) Ellington of Eufaula, AL; two brothers, Willie Horris (Darlene) Grier of Chicago, IL and Freddie James Granger of Orlando, FL; 10 grandchildren, Ahjian, Santonio, Jamillian, Emma, Zydarius, Kaemir, Kennedy, Kai, Londyn, and Lauryn; one uncle, Robert (Carol) Cox of Miami, FL; three aunts, Claudia Cox of Cuthbert, GA; Inez Cox of Chicago, IL and Ada Cox of Orlando, FL; one great aunt, Mary Heard of Morris, GA; two special friends Ethel Brown and Daisy Parkman; a close friend, Sonnie Wallace; loving nieces and nephew whom he cared for dearly, Deanna Lucy Bussey, Jershyia Granger, and Zay Granger; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
