SSGT Samuel Leon Ramsey, affectionately known as “Nudder,” was born on August 21, 1960, to the parentage of the late John Ramsey and Mary Sellar Ramsey. After the passing of his mother he was raised by his aunt the late Mary L. Gay. Samuel transitioned into eternal rest on January 19, 2022 in Columbus, GA. Samuel accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into his life and trusted in His word.
Samuel received an education and graduated from Tri-County High in Buena Vista, GA in 1978. After graduation he joined the United States Army and served his country for 20 years. During his time in the service he traveled to many countries abroad and states within the US. Samuel also received numerous medals for his services. After a brief retirement he joined the FedEx Team as a private contractor. In Samuel’s pastime, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going on cruises and to concerts with his beautiful wife, playing his bass guitar, fishing and watching his Pittsburgh Steelers.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clarence Ramsey, his aunt and his father, mother and brother in law Jessie Norris, Sr., Annie Norris and Jessie Norris, Jr.
In 1982, Samuel married the love of his life, his soulmate Beverly Norris Ramsey. And to this union two sons were born.
Samuel leaves to cherish his memories, his precious wife Beverly N. Ramsey of Upatoi, GA; sons Quentin (Letisha) Ramsey of Lawrenceville, GA and Termell Ramsey (Sonya) of Columbus, GA; 3 precious granddaughters Janiya Ramsey of Orlando, FL, Amenah and Layla Ramsey of Lawrenceville, GA and 1 grandson King Jamall Ramsey of Lawrenceville, GA; an aunt Flossie Ellis of Jacksonville, FL; a special cousin Mary L. Walton; 2 God-daughters Kimkeisha Rivers and Yukeisha Harris; 3 best friends for life, Jeffery Times, Joseph Jenkins and Kenneth King. Samuel also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
