Bro. Robert Smith
Robert Smith was born January 10, 1950 to the parentage of Bertha and the late Norman Smith. At an early age he confessed in Christ and became a member of the New Hope Church.
He was educated in the Clay County School System. He then attended Job Corp. Robert worked 41 years at Columbus Mills in Eufaula, Ala. until he retired.
He enjoyed going to church singing, and fishing. His passion was barbecuing. He was a great fan of the “Bright Stars”
Everyone that knew him called him Papa, the name his grandchildren gave him.
He was preceded in death by four sisters: Juliet Smith, Rowena Norris, Luvernia Doughty and Mammie Jeffries.
Those left cherishing his memories are his loving mother, Bertha Smith, a loving daughter, Tracy Smith; five grandchildren, Thaddeus, Jarvis, Desmond, Gregory, and Jamarious; One sister, Carolyn (Donnell) Varner; Two brothers, Willie Fred (Juanita) Smith, and Theodis Smith; Five great grands: Hailey, Royalty, Karmeil, Liberty, and Christopher, and a host of nieces, nephew, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and sympathizing friends. He had two very special friends who loved him: Ruby and Johnny.
