Mr. R. S. Norris, affectionately known as “Tom,” was born on November 11, 1930 to the parentage of the late Raleigh and Ruby King Norris.
At an early age, he confessed in Christ and became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Georgetown, GA. He was educated in the Quitman County School system at the Kaigler Training School. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Emma Ivory Norris.
R. S. Norris worked at Eufaula Pulpwood until he retired. R. S. was loved by his friends, neighbors and family. He loved to fish, watch Westerns, sing and care for his family.
On December 7, 2021, R. S. Norris was called to eternal rest at his home.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, R.C. Norris and daughter, Joe Ann Freeman.
R. S. Norris leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Ruby (Douglas) Oliver of Georgetown, GA and Betty (Eugene) Deloney of Eufaula, AL; a daughter that he raised, Oveada Harris of Georgetown, GA; a son, James Jackson, Jr. of Georgetown, GA; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; one special friend/cousin, Uyness Norris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sympathizing friends.
