Pamela Chnea Mitchell’s story began on Christmas Day, December 25, 1961, celebrating this little bundle of joy between the union of Mr. Razz Mitchell and the late Mrs. Annie Mitchell at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, Florida.
At an early age, Pamela accepted Christ in her life. She joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the youth choir with her siblings.
Pamela was a very bright young lady who did well in school. She was educated in the Miami Dade school system. She graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School in the class of 1979. There she met many friends for life.
Pamela continued her higher education at Florida Memorial University. She was a young, energetic and beautiful person. She won several prestigious honors such as the 1980 Miss Omega Psi Phi and Miss Purple and Gold. She truly enjoyed her college life.
Pamela went on to become a vibrant BellSouth Telephone Operator. For several years, you could hear her beautiful voice when you dialed the operator. She changed her career in 1987 and began her employment with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. Pamela was beloved by all. She had a special connection and bond with her customers. Some of them became personal friends for years. In 2007, she was granted a disability retirement from the Postal Service.
In 2009, Pamela decided to relocate to Fort Gaines, GA to be closer to her parents. She became traveling buddies with her mom. They would travel to the Caribbean Islands and other parts of the United States; enjoying each other’s company like two peas in a pod.
Pamela’s sense of humor was second to none and she was as compassionate as she was funny. She had an untapped gift of comedy and jokes that would keep those around her cracking up for hours. She was a kindred soul. Anyone who truly knew Pam knew she had a big heart and was touched by her kindness and humor.
She joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she remained committed to her faith until she was called home to eternal rest on May 5, 2022.
Pam was preceded in death by her beloved Mother: Mrs. Annie Mitchell, Half-Sister: Minnie Ali and Half -Brother: Harry Lee.
She leaves to cherish many wonderful memories, devoted Father: Mr. Razz Mitchell, beloved Son: Ahmad Mitchell Sr. (Raquel) of Albany, GA; Sisters: Wanda Riley and Valeria Mitchell of Miami, FL; Brother: Kenneth Mitchell of Fort Gaines, GA; Grandkids: Ahmad Jr., Markell, Ahmir and Myles Mitchell of Albany, GA. Nieces: Traci Lee, Kwaketta Mitchell-Daniels (Maurice), Zuria Harris, Yasmin Burden, Krissa Mitchell and Tai’mir Mitchell; Nephews: Akeem Burden, Kenneth Crayton (Shinjae) and Jamil Riley; Godson: Quaron Sandsers; Godsister: Loletha Dailey, a special friend, Regina Hodge Simmons and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
