Ozie Grier Obituary

Sis. Ozie Cox Grier was born to the late George Bell and Bessie Ann Fluellen-Cox, on December 15, 1935 in Clay County, GA.  She entered into her final resting place on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., at Early Memorial Hospital in Blakely, GA.  Her battle was fought and her victory was won.

She attended the public school system in Quitman County.  After completing her education she was employed as a domestic worker.

At an early age she joined Beachum Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health declined.

In 1951 she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Pierce Willie Frier. 

She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved all of her family and friends, especially her grands.  Her door was always open for a good meal and a place to sleep.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Walter James Grier; and seven siblings, George Cox, Henry Cox, Frazier Cox, WJ Cox, Johnny Cox, Bessie Mae Hodge, and Erie Wright.

Those left to cherish her loving memories are three daughters, Lena Mae Grier of Chicago, IL, Mary Grier Thompson of Georgetown, GA, and Joann Granger Ellington (Dennis) of Eufaula, AL; one son, Willie Horris Grier (Darlene) of Chicago, IL; Three grandchildren, she raised as her own; Kelvin, Xzavia, and Justin; one sister, Ada Cox of Orlando, FL; one brother, Robert Cox (Carol) of Miami, FL; 11 grandchildren, Sherita, Sharaka, and Ryshawn Grier, Rickey Feagins (Deshaya), Kelsey Feagins (Glenda), Walter Brown, Antonio Brown, Kelvin, Xzavia, and Jeremy Granger, and Deanna Bussey; 45 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; three sisters-n-law, Claudia Mae Cox, Inez Cox, and Georgia Cox; one aunt, Mary Heard; and a host of cousins, relatives, and other sympathizing friends.
