Reflections of Life
A Godly, eternally youthful life has departed this Earth and went to her heavenly home.
Maureen Williams Stills was born in Clay County, Georgia on September 30, 1917, to the late Frank Williams and Eliza Jackson Williams. She departed this life peacefully on September 9, 2021.
At an early age she joined Ebenezer AME Church where she served faithfully until the church closure in March 2015. She enjoyed singing and was an outstanding, heartfelt soloist for many years. Her signature tune, she was known for singing, was “Little Wooden Church on the Hill.” She was educated in the community schools in Clay County, Georgia from elementary through high school. In 1937, she was joined in holy matrimony to Lemon Stills who preceded her in death in 1958.
Affectionately known as “Aunt Honey” throughout several communities from Clay County, Georgia to Broward County, Florida and beyond… She was a loving and devoted Aunt who always put her family first. She was self-employed for many years as a seamstress. She was well known for her spirited singing, powerful prayers, quilting, home remedies, lively storytelling and many other skills and talents. An avid reader, she loved beautiful things and had many hobbies including coloring, cross stitching and fishing. Although Aunt Honey had no biological children of her own, she nurtured countless children during her years and enjoyed each moment to the fullest.
Aunt Honey was the youngest of 14 children and all of her siblings preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of love and service, a fifth generation of numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
