Marshall Rumph Obituary

Marshall Rumph, devoted father, and servant of GOD left his earthly home Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

Born January 26, 1930, to the late Lee Rumph and Lizzie Henderson Rumph. Marshall grew up in Georgetown, GA., and was known for his kind and humble nature; never refusing any request for help.

As a young child, he confessed to Christ and joined Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Steadfast in his commitment to GOD, he was elected Chairman of the Deacon Board.  Working tirelessly maintaining GOD’s house and overseeing church duties. He was always the first to arrive and the last to leave a true servant leader.  Family members were taught to be punctual and participate in church services; age was not an excuse. If you could walk, you could train to be an usher. Throughout his life, he served faithfully in several capacities but singing praises gave him the greatest joy.

Marshall is survived by seven children: Mary Hall of Glenville, AL; James Rumph of Ft. Gains, GA; Annie Ellington, Julia Jones, Walter (Gussie) Rumph, Willie Ed. Rumph and Catherine Hines, all of Georgetown, GA; one foster son, Tommy (Dorothy) Davis of Cincinnati, OH;  one brother, Ervin (Ann) Rumph of Pearl, MS;  two sisters, Essie (Clarence) White and Dorothy (James) Badger, both from Miami, FL;  20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by his wife of 55 years, Callie Kinsey Rumph; one son Robert Kinsey; two sisters Annie Davis and Mary Winslet; two brothers Walter Rumph and Jackie Walker Sr.; two grandsons Kelvin Kinsey and Robert Kinsey Jr. and one great-grandson Evan Crocker.
