Lillie Alexander Obituary

Lillie Beatrice Alexander was born on February 3, 1943, to the late Wallace    Christian and Mrs. Pecola Thornton Christian-Griggs, in Ft. Gaines, GA.  She transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal home on July, 11, 2024 in Columbus, GA.

Lillie received her education in Fort Gaines and graduated from Speight High. 

She was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Church, Ft. Gaines, GA.

Lillie moved to New Jersey where she married the late J.D. Alexander, Jr. on March 28, 1964. To this union one child was born.

She held various jobs in New Jersey. She retired from Gardner-Merchant Food Service of West Orange, NJ. She later returned to GA where she worked at Shoney’s in Eufaula, AL.

Lillie was preceded in death by her husband J.D. Alexander, her father; her bonus father, Marion Griggs, Sr.;  sister, Lucille Cobb; and brothers, Marion, Jr., Willie Albert, Walter, Arthur Patrick and Freddie Griggs.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Ms. Adriane Alexander of Georgetown, GA; son, Mr. Gary (Crystal) Alexander of Newark, NJ; seven granddaughters, Arianna Alexander-Scott, of Atlanta, GA, Kecia, Shakerah, Alicia, Olivia, Diana and Sameriah of NJ; one grandson, Gary, Jr. all of NJ; eight great grandchildren, Zamyiah, Tiana, Zaniyah, Leon Jr., Liam, Mason, Karim Jr., and Malachi all of NJ; her beloved mother, Pecola Griggs of Georgetown, GA; sisters, Eleanor Griggs and Paula Griggs of Georgetown, GA; three brothers, Darriel (Virginia) Griggs of Georgetown, GA, Nathan (Cynthia) Griggs of Ft. Gaines, GA, and Marion Griggs, Jr. of Apopka, FL; one aunt, Mrs. Thelma Culver of Apopka, FL; brother-in-law, Charles (Cynthia) Alexander of Hillside, NJ; sisters-in-law, Lola Brown of Columbus, OH and Rosalyn Alexander of Plainfield, NJ; three special bonus boys, Charles Alexander of NJ, Dwayne Avery, and Kadarious Griggs of GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
