Joseph Clark Obituary

Joseph L. Clark, Sr. was a caring father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly on July 17, 2021 at 74 years of age. He will be missed by all.

He was born to Henry and Retha Clark on January 23, 1947, in Fort Gaines, Georgia. He attended Speight High School. After attending school, Joseph went to trade school to become a painter and was employed in that field at Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base. he met and married Annie J. Clark and bore four children: Alethea Clark of Albany, Georgia; Joseph Clark, Jr. of Albany, Georgia; Erica (Dale) Walls of Albany, and Anthony (Santana) Clark, also of Albany. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Joseph Hunt, Jamond Clark, Joel Lowe, Chantae’ Peterman and Mirakkus Peterman, and 5 great grandchildren, all of Albany, Georgia. He later married Virginia Clark and had 1 daughter, Ashley Wilson.

Joseph is survived by his siblings, Martin (Virginia) Clark, Sr. of Albany, Georgia and Ada (Harold) Brown of Fort Gaines, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and 13 siblings: Julius Clark, Willie Clark, Etta Clark, Julia Hodges, Melvia Thornton, Iantha Moss, John W. Clark, Annie L. Parks, Magnolia Scott, Bessie F. Hall, Woodrow Clark, James Clark and Henry G. Clark.

Not only was Joseph a hard-working painter, he was also a talented guitarist and singer. He loved music - you could always catch him singing, dancing or telling a joke. In his spare time he loved to fish, hunt, cook and make wine for his family and friends. Many would borrow Joe’s wine recipe, but it would never come out quite like Joe’s. The family also loved his homemade pork rinds that were better than anything you could find in the store. His favorite nickname for everybody was “Bo”. If he called you “Bo,” you knew you were loved.

Joseph’s life will be honored on July 23, 2021 at Bethel Cemetery in Fort Gaines, Georgia. Prayers and support are appreciated by the family during this difficult time.
