Reflections of Life
Mr. John Irvin Hodge, Jr. was born in Clay County on July 14, 1943 to the late Mary Holly Hodge and John Irvin Hodge, Sr. John better known as “Jr” was a loving, kind, outgoing man. He enjoyed being in the presence of family and friends.
John was educated in Clay County Public Schools. Most of his adult life was spent in Newark, NJ and later moved to Carrollton, GA before returning to Clay County. John worked many years for Southwire Trucking company in Carrollton, GA before becoming owner and operator of Hodges trucking. He loved trucking and managed to do it until his health failed.
On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, John made his heavenly transitioned and entered in the joy of the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters: Valgean and Romaine Hodge, two siblings, James Hodge and Carolyn Alexander, and a granddaughter, Najala Saxton.
John leaves behind many memories to his three sons, Tony Hodge and Edward Hodge of Newark, NJ and Keldin McClain of Carrollton,GA; a daughter, Skylar Hodge of Carrollton, GA; three sisters, Gwendolyn Mitchell, Mary Nunnally and Ruby Quarles all of Edison, GA. John also leaves to mourn a host of grandkids, nieces, nephews and special friends.
