Steward Joe Jarrell was on born November 20, 1949 in Quitman County, GA. He was the youngest son of the late Harvey Jarrell, Sr. and Mary LB Jarrell.

On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, Steward Jarrell answered the  Master’s call home to be with His Heavenly Father.

He was raised in a loving and caring home.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age at Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church, later joining Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church in Georgetown, GA, where he served faithfully until his death.  He served his church in many capacities, the Steward Pro-Tem, the President of the Georgia/Alabama Singing Convention, First Sunday, Third and Fifth Sunday Singing Conventions. He was also the President of the People’s Union Usher’s Convention.

He was educated in the Quitman County School System and was a 1967 graduate of Kaigler Training High School.

He was employed at Day Plywood Company for 15 years and Roy Mercer Tire Company for 20 years in Cuthbert, GA. After 35 years of dedicated service to others, he became self-employed, successfully establishing “Joe Jarrell Tire Service.”  He was affectionately known as the “The Tire Man.”

In 1998, he married Mae Lois Jackson-Clark and resided in Albany, GA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonjas Clark-Wheeler.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Mae Lois Jackson Clark Jarrell of Albany, GA; his daughters, Chandra Clark of Albany, GA, Mrs. Winifred Davis (Rev. John Davis) of Albany, GA, Christine “Nickey” Knighton of Springfield, VA, and Pamela Knighton of Cuthbert, GA; his grandchildren, Brayden Wheeler and Brooklyn Wheeler of Atlanta, GA, Antrell Davis of Alexandria, VA, Breanna Davis of Albany, GA, and Tre Williams of Columbus, GA; his sisters, Mary Burr (Bishop John Burr) of Albany, GA, Leaila Loyd of Melbourne, FL, and Leethel “Sug” Manning of Columbia, SC; one brother, Ennis Jarrell of Cuthbert, GA; 4 brothers-n-law, Willie Ed Jackson (Ollie) of Cocoa Beach, FL, Walter Frank Jackson of Merritt Island, FL, Johnny Frances Jackson (Ivory) of Atlanta, GA, and John Jackson of Dawson, GA; 2 sisters-n-law, Catherine Holmes of Leesburg, GA and Carolyn Starling (Michael) of Dawson, GA, a Godson, Kevin Tukes of Albany, GA; a Goddaughter, Kimberly Ash of Albany, GA, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and sympathizing friends.
