Jerry Henry Willis was born to the late Charlie Joe (CJ) Willis and Claudean (Fulton) Willis on August 1, 1957, in Georgetown, GA. He departed this life on Sunday, April 25, 2021. Jerry graduated from Kaigler Training Center in Georgetown, GA. He was a member of Shady Grove AME Church, where he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. In April 1978, Jerry entered the U.S. Army, where he received several decorations, medals, badges, citations, and campaign ribbons during his years of service. After retiring from the military in 1995, Jerry worked for Vectrus for several years and was stationed in Kuwait. Jerry was a family man. He loved fishing, preaching, cooking, spending time with his grandchildren, working in the yard, gardening, shopping, and walking. Jerry loved people; no one was a stranger. He ministered at several churches for many years. Regardless of his circumstances, Jerry always had a smile, was always optimistic, and proclaimed God’s goodness wherever he went and to whoever would listen. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Charlie Joe Willis, Jr, Robert E. Willis, and Embry Leon Willis. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Annette (Lofton) Willis, Murrieta, CA; four daughters, Tammy Green (Walter), Columbus, GA; Latoya Fullwood (Antonio), Beverly Willis, and Nichol Reynolds (Shanthony), Jacksonville, FL; one son, Jerry Willis, Jr, (Adrienne), Austin, TX; four step-children, Billy Lofton (Vanessa), Las Vegas, NV; Iyonna Lofton; Krystal Jean-Louis (Joe); Kimberly Lofton (Anthony), Murrieta, CA; Mahouti Maga, Maule; three brothers, Willie J. Willis (Emma), Roanoke, VA; Dr. Bobby Willis and William D. Willis, Georgetown, GA; eight sisters, Elouise Willis, Columbus, OH; Lillie Willis, Brooklyn, NY; Inez Dixon (Murray), Silver Springs, MD; Dr. Lucy Willis, Oak Park, IL; Johnnie M. Fick, Syracuse, IN; Alma L. Willis, Norristown, PA; Mary A. Monds, Fort Wayne, IN; Ethel J. Wims (John Wesley), Columbus, GA; 24 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two friends he considered sons, James Williams of Antwerp, Belgium and Stephen Williams of Jacksonville, FL, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and co-workers.
