James Spann Obituary

Dec. James Morris Spann “Boochie”, was born on June 7, 1936 in Clay County, GA, to the late Mr. Jack Bradley Spann and  Mrs. Essie Lee Bradley.  He departed this life on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Early Memorial Hospital.

At an early age he joined St. Luke Baptist Church.  He was a deacon of the church, where he served faithfully until his health declined.

He attended the Public Schools in Clay County.

James was a member of the Masonic Carnegie Lodge No. 569, where he was a member for over 35 years and received a Gold Card.

James was employed with Fendley Farms for over 40 years, and The City of Blakely where retired.  He was faithful worker and had many talents.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Geraldine Price and to this union six children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Paul  and Lee Earnest Spann; one sister, Frances Thornton; and four brothers, William Spann, Sr., Jack Spann, Jr., Marion Spann, and Ben Arthur Spann.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving wife, Geraldine Spann; two daughters, Shirley Bradley of Fort Gaines, GA and Janice Spann of Aberdeen, MD; three sons, James (Mazie) Bradley, Jr. of Catula, GA, John Arthur Spann of Edison, GA, and Jamorris Spann of Edison, GA; two brothers, Ronnie (Gene) Bradley of Edison, GA and Randall Spann of Atlanta, GA; two grandsons, Quantrell K. Spann and Joshawa Bradley, a very, very special grandson and caregiver;  three sisters-n-law, Mary Bradley of Gainesville, FL, Rebecca James of Newark, NJ, and Rethel Price of Bluffton, GA; one daughter-n-law, Joyce Ann Spann of Albany, GA; one brother-n-law, Willie Frank James of Leesburg, GA; three aunts-n-law, Dorothy Jones, Edith Williams, and Marth Mincey; two special cousins, Rosie Davis and Minnie Mae Brown; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and sympathizing friends.
