George was born August 28, 1948 in Omaha, Georgia, to the parentage of George and Savannah Woodard, who preceded him in death. George was called to his eternal resting place on Friday, February 4th at Emory Hospital. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie Joyce; daughter, Freda Woodard; and sisters, Doris Butts and Betty Dent.
George was a member of the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Decatur, GA. George was a quiet, humble and gentle soul, who loved family, fishing and the Atlanta Braves. He migrated to Atlanta in his younger days where he was gainfully employed with Frito-Lays and Atlanta Marble. George was blessed enough to find love a second time when he met, Ms. Friendly Ross, who also preceded him in death.
George leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Tameka Woodard, Eufaula, AL, two sons, Reginald and George Woodard, both of Atlanta, GA; grands, Avory Jackson, Tenikqua Woodard and Gregory and Kanye Palmer all of Eufaula, AL and Shantrice Randolph (Veronica), Jasmine Ross, Derisha Ross and Quentin Ross all of Atlanta, GA; siblings, Arlinda (Barry), Sharon (Sam) John (Denise) Willie (Debra) all of Milledgeville, GA Marion (Valerie), Macon, Darlene (Robert), Buena Vista, GA; one aunt, Josephine Shingles Heard of Freeport, N.Y.; one uncle, Edward (Ida), Atlanta, GA; brothers-in-laws, Tommie Butts, Milledgeville, GA and John Dent, Jacksonville, FL; a friend, Georgia Daniels; lifelong friends, Rev. Eddie Henley, and Willie “Boot” Mitchell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who shared his love.
