Mrs. Ella Anderson Hunter was born in Eufaula, Alabama on March 4, 1939 to the Late Edward and Mammie Lee Hill Anderson. She quietly departed this life on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA,
Her family relocated to Georgetown Georgia where she was educated and employed by the Quitman County Board of Education. She retired as a paraprofessional at Quitman County Elementary School . Ella was a devoted and loyal member of Shady Grove AME Church of Georgetown, Georgia. She was a member of the Adult Choir and the Women’s Missionary Society. She enjoyed participating in Women’s Day activities and Vacation Bible School.
In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. Before the pandemic and her impaired health, she would share stories about the people she would meet when she went out to eat at various restaurants in the area.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ulysses; her husband, Willie “Son” Hunter; five sisters, Eddie Bell, Rena Lee, Rolee, Willie Mae, and Addie Pearl; and three brothers, John B,, Ulysses and Houston.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sisters, Francis of Rochester, New York and Bessie of Eufaula, Alabama; one brother, Milton of Rochester, New York; a special nephew, Johnny Cochran of Georgetown, GA; a special neighbor and granddaughter, Sherri Hunter of Georgetown, GA; a special niece Lizzie Shabazz; a special cousin, Carrie Diggs of Eufaula, AL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
