Obituary

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Elijah Jackson, Sr., affectionately known as “Jeep,” was born on December 23, 1945 to the parentage of Charity Rivers in Stewart County, Georgia.

Knowing there is a time for every purpose under the heaven, he professed Christ at an early age and was united in membership with the First Baptist Church in Georgetown, Georgia, where he served as an Usher and held membership on the Usher Board.

His education was received in the public school system in Quitman and Stewart counties.  He worked many years as a machine operator.  Elijah enjoyed watching Alabama football, playing  checkers and dominos, and going fishing .

On Sunday, May 15th, at Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula, AL, “Jeep,” quietly exchanged his walk in life for eternal rest with his Heavenly Father,  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Lonnie Rivers and his sister, Dorothy Mae Jackson.

The moments of laughter and joy spent will always remain constant in the hearts of his devoted and loving children, Sheryl (Willie) Jackson Flintroy, Elijah Jackson, Jr., Steven (Tara) Jackson, Erica Wheeler, Mary Lynn, and Montravious Wallace; a step-daughter, Brenda Lee Norris; 19 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Ann King; his ex– wife, Mary Jackson; and a special friend, Adell Corbett; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
