Reflections of Life
Classie Darlene was born on March 09, 1948 to the late Gus Roberts and Annie Laura Slaton in Fort Gaines, GA. She was called home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2023.
At an early age she confessed in Christ and joined Aim Well A.M.E. Church in Fort Gaines, GA. She was educated in the Clay County, GA school system and graduated from Speight High School in 1967.
Darlene’s love for children began her career with the Clay County Board of Education as a secretary in 1973. She eventually progressed to the classroom as a Paraprofessional faithfully serving for over 31 years. Darlene never met a stranger and had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation. Those friends became family. She was a true giver to all those who knew and loved her.
Darlene was preceded in death by her older brothers, Charlie Ed, Jessie, Bobby and sister Ruby Dean.
She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by her three sons, Kennie Jones, Keith (Dr. Montoya) Jones and Kelvin Slaton; four grandchildren, Darnell, Raven, Devontae, and Kendrick: two great grandchildren Tahj and Tai. She leaves to mourn nine siblings, Dorothy, Charles, Fannie Mae, Laura Jean, (her twin brother) Paul, Johnny (Patricia), Harvest (Nedra), Cynthia (James), Salita (Arwin) and a host of nieces, nephews and many “other sons”.
