Carrie Smith Obituary

Sister Carrie Ann Smith was born on May 5, 1935 to the parentage of the late Mr. Noah Robinson and Mrs. Carrie Bell Johnson Robinson in Winter Haven (Polk County), FL.  She departed this life peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

She was educated in Polk County School System in Florida and graduated from Jewett High School in Florence Villa, FL on June 5, 1953.  Carrie Ann met the love of her life, the late James Smith, Jr. and were married in Miami, FL on May 29, 1957.  To this union three children were born.

Carrie Ann graduated from Team Clerical School, in Newark, NJ in 1969. She served as PTA President at Cleveland Elementary School in Newark, NJ from 1968-1970 and participated on the Praise Team at A. Skinner Deliverance Centerin Newark, NJ from 1966-1970.  After relocating to Clay County, GA, she joined New Hope AME Church where she sung in the Choir and served on the  Food Committee until her health began to decline. In the community, she was a member of the Clay County Chapter of the NAACP and the Clay County Senior Center.  Carrie Ann had the distinction of being the Clay County Georgia 2018 Senior Prom Queen. She loved to cook, fish and sing.

She leaves to cherish her memories One daughter, Nancy Smith of Fort Gaines, GA; two sons, James Smith of Fort Gaines, GA and Jessie (Rosemary) Smith of Eclectic, AL; five grandchildren, Dawn (Randy) Thomas, Jessie Smith, Jr., Bernard Spann, Jr., Schurron Smith, and Amanda Smith; five great grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Robinson of Winter Haven, FL; one sister, Elnora Smith of Winter Haven, FL; two sisters-in-law, Bertha and Erline Smith, both of Fort Gaines, GA; a special friend, Betty Allen; and a host of sorrowful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
