Alice Butler Obituary

Alice Marie Bell Butler was born on April 16, 1945, to John Ed and Georgia Mae Bell in Barbour County, Alabama.  She quickly became the nurturer of the family.   She never met a stranger and loved meeting new people.

She joined the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was a proud graduate of T.V. McCoo High School.  On February 22, 1964, she united in holy matrimony to Jimmy Lee Butler.  Alice then joined the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served as church secretary.  She later joined the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.

Alice was employed as a machine operator at West Point Stevens for many years before retiring in 2008.  In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, tending to her flowers, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Johnnie Pearl, and a granddaughter, Ashley Butler.

She departed this life on June 26, 2023.  She peacefully transitioned at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Alice leaves to cherish her loving memory to her sons, Cedric (Bridgette) Butler, and Vince Butler; her daughter, Denetrius Butler; five grandchildren, Vakeela (Adrian) Brown, Aaliyah Butler, Xavier Butler, Giuliana Williams, and Eric Moss; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Gabrielle Brown.  She also will be remembered by her two brothers, Winston (Sally) Bell, Ezzard Charles (Debbie) Bell; and four sisters, Blessie J. Cleveland, Ruby Cassidy, Gwendolyn Bell, and Barbara (Reginald) Early.  Alice was loved by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her sweet smile.
